Big road win for Stars in Glasgow

Dundee Stars moved back into the playoff places at the expense of Glasgow Clan, beating their host 5-1 in front of a sold-out Braehead Arena crowd on Friday night.

An early fight between Dyson Stevenson and Xavier Pouliot set the tone for what was a playoff-style encounter in Glasgow. Carter Johnson opened the scoring at 10:45 with a poke home of a rebound from a Jake Elmer throw in front to put the Stars ahead. Just under five minutes later, a bad giveaway from Josh Roach gave the puck straight to Spencer Naas through the middle, and the Stars forward doubled his team's lead after Antti Karjalainen had stopped his initial shot.

Ryan Harrison's quick hands off an Alex Forbes pass pulled one back for the Clan 26 seconds later.

With Jake Bolton in the box for Holding, a nice back-door pass from Ryan Valentini found captain Drydn Dow to fire past Karjalainen and put the Stars 3-1 ahead with 7:44 played in period two. However, three minutes later the Stars were down a man with Brendan Harms ejected for a spear off the play - Clan, however, couldn't take advantage of the five-minute powerplay.

7:37 into the third, Valentini worked the puck from the goal line into the slot to Brent Beaudoin to finish for a 4-1 lead that effectively sealed the game with time to spare. Naas added the visitors' fifth with 1:40 left on the clock for a big win in the playoff race.
