Playoff Final: Grand Slam or Four-peat?

Belfast Giants face Cardiff Devils at 5pm on Sunday for their third straight Playoff Final meeting.

Both sides came through their Semi-Finals on Saturday to set up a chance at playing for the trophy, but in very different ways. Belfast were comfortable 6-2 winners over nottingham Panthers in the day's first Semi-Final where they were always at least two goals ahead through; Cardiff came back from two down to tie things up against Sheffield, before beating the Steelers in overtime.

Matchups between the two sides this season have been evenly split with both sides having three wins each - the Giants just shade total points having lost the final game in overtime.

This game is LIVE on Viaplay!

Belfast head into this game with the chance of completing a Grand Slam still very much on the tale. The Giants won the Viaplay Challenge Cup in March, followed by the League title on 1 April.

Cardiff are also looking to write their own bit of history in the final. The Devils are aiming to make it four straight Viaplay Playoffs titles - something no team has achieved in Elite League history.

Game details

  • Belfast, as the highest seed, are the designated home team and will have last change
  • Belfast will wear teal jerseys and attack the stage end twice
  • Cardiff will wear white jerseys and attack the zamboni end twice

Overtime
If the game is tied after regulation, the following will be used to determine a winner:

  • Continuous 20-minute periods of 5-on-5, sudden death overtime
