Tonight: Flames host Devils in Challenge Cup

Midweek Challenge Cup action at the Guildford Spectrum.

Guildford Flames host Cardiff Devils tonight in the Challenge Cup, looking to avenge their 5-3 defeat in Wales last weekend.

The Flames and Devils both have a win each in Group C so far, with Cardiff's home win against Guildford giving them early superiority. Guildford bounced back from that defeat by going on to beat Coventry at home, while Cardiff then completed a league win over Glasgow to remain unbeaten.

Cardiff's last visit to the Spectrum is synonymous with their comeback from three down, and also Calle Ackered's penalty shots to win the game in a shootout for the Flames. The Devils won on their other three visits to the Spectrum last season, restricting the Flames to two goals in each.

"Having now seen Devils we know they are probably even better than they were last season which is impressive. I thought last weekend after we got down by too many to have much chance to win the game we played pretty well. They are so talented you cannot take your eye off the ball even for a minute so we have to prevent that early cave in if we are going to have a shot at a win. Hopefully we can put in a full 60 minutes and get a break or two here and there to come out with Cup points." - Paul Dixon (Head Coach, Guildford Flames)

"We always have very close and hard-fought battles in Guildford, and it's a rink we've always found a challenge to come away with a win from. We had a good start last weekend, and now need to build on that and take the momentum forward into our three games this week." - Andrew Lord (Head Coach, Cardiff Devils)
