Glasgow Clan defenseman Jordan Heywood has announced that he is retiring from ice hockey.

The 31-year-old had spent the past three seasons in Germany's second tier before joining the Clan, for whom he played 35 games and notched 20 points.

"It was a difficult decision to retire because I love the game of hockey and it has brought so many amazing opportunities. However, it is the right time for myself and my family," explained Heywood. "The cities I have played in have each provided something special and memorable, and my wife and I will look back on these years with fondness. A special thanks for the Glasgow Clan organisation and Clan fans for their support this past season! It made our time in Glasgow truly memorable."
