Retrospective: Week 3

Looking back to the beginning of the 2019/20 season

The week beginning 16 September saw all 10 Elite League teams involved in league and cup action, and our first midweek action.

On a Thursday night, Cardiff started the week with a win as they edged past Guildford in overtime.

On Saturday, Sheffield continued their excellent start to the Aaron Fox era with a home win against Guildford, while Fife's early-season promise delivered them their third straight league win with a home victory over Coventry. Glasgow, who were playing on the road for most of the month, avenged their defeat in Cardiff six days earlier by winning 6-2 at the Viola Arena.

In Cup action, Dundee stayed at the top of their group with a win in Belfast, while Nottingham grabbed a narrow victory in Manchester.

Sunday had four league fixtures, with the Clan completing an excellent weekend in Sheffield. Nottingham's first trip of the season to Belfast saw them blanked by the Giants, while Dundee kept up their good start against Manchester. Guildford got their first home league win with the visit of Fife.

The lone cup game on Sunday was an excellent home win for Coventry against Cardiff.
