Tonight: Flames and Blaze meet in Challenge Cup

Both sides looking to get off the mark in the cup

1800 Guildford Flames vs. Coventry Blaze

Guildford host Coventry with both sides looking for their first win in the Challenge Cup this season - and, in the case of the Flames, their first victory of the season.

"This closes out an important opening weekend in Cup action. We only have 8 games to try and get ourselves in a guaranteed next round spot, so it is an important game against Coventry. They have already beaten us on our ice this season, and we want to have a more energetic effort than we did in the challenge games. Overall it is a big weekend of hockey and we are looking forward to seeing how we get on." - Paul Dixon (Head Coach, Guildford Flames)

We played Guildford twice in pre-season, and with a lot of returning players, we know what they are all about. It’s our first game in the cup and we want to make sure we get off to a good start as it’s a competition that is important to us but we have struggled in during recent years. The Spectrum is always a difficult place to play, but our road form has been good so far and if we play the same way that we did the last time we were there in pre-season we’re confident we can come out with a positive result." - Dayle Keen (Assistant Coach, Coventry Blaze)
