Flyers secure derby win

It was a derby win for Fife in Dundee in front of 2,300 people at the Dundee Ice Arena in an important game in the race to make this season's playoffs.

Fife took an early lead over the bridge on Tayside on an odd-man rush with Tim Crowder setting up Carlo Finucci for a smart finish with 4:37 on the clock. A fine deke and individual effort from Matt Carter levelled the game with 2:47 left in the opening period.

The lone goal of period two came off a faceoff with Michael Gutwald crashing a short from the blueline into the back of Alex Leclerc’s net.

That was how things stayed until the final minute of the game. With the Stars chasing an equaliser and Leclerc pulled it was Mike Cazzola who found the empty net to secure the points for Fife and keep them alive in this season's race for the playoffs.
