Blaze consolidate fifth with home win

Coventry Blaze moved out to four points ahead Guildford thanks to a home win by a single goal on Friday night.

Braylon Shmyr opened the scoring in this one as he deked and finished past CJ Motte with only 35 seconds played. The Blaze were level at 12:42 through John Curran.

The game stayed level until just past the 36-minute mark, Coventry breaking on an odd-man rush and nice passing eventually leading to Andrew Johnston poking the puck home in the slot.

A David Broll shot saved led to Alex Forbes firing home a rebound at 43:14 to give the hosts a two-goal cushion, but they were pulled back to 3-2 with just under ten minutes to play through Jordan Rowley.

CJ Motte, however, made 24 saves on the night to help earn the Blaze a narrow win.
