Flames earn big road win

Guildford Flames put their recent run of form behind them with an excellent road win in Nottingham.

Down after 6:53 to Ryan Horvat's opening goal for the Panthers, Jamie Crooks levelled at 18:47 off an excellent pass from Braylon Shmyr.

Sam Herr scored on the powerplay 3:09 into period two with a shot that was deflected in off a defenseman, but the Flames were level under three minutes later thanks to Brett Ferguson's redirection on Crooks' pass. Kruise Reddick fired home a powerplay goal from the point at 33:55 to put the Flames ahead, and when Josh Waller's shot snuck through Kevin Carr a little over three minutes later the visitors found themselves two ahead.

Jordan Abt beat Carr five-hole early in the final period to put the Flames 5-2 up, and although Horvat pulled the Panthers back to within two at 52:22 that was as close as the hosts came to getting back into the game.
