Panthers steal points with late winner

Nottingham Panthers scored with 17 seconds to go to leave Kirkcaldy with a win and condemn Fife Flyers to another defeat.

Things started well for the Flyers who were quick out of the traps, and Jordan Buesa was rewarded for his hard work with the opening goal just two minutes in. Carlo Finucci doubled the hosts' lead five minutes later, but a mazy run from Georgs Golovkovs got the Panthers back into the game - three goals in under 10 minutes.

Nottingham tied the game at 37:26 after Brett Perlini reacted first to the rebound from Golovkovs' shot.

All square, the third period was end to end although the Panthers were beginning to look the more dangerous. With the game heading towards almost inevitable overtime, Brian Connelly's shot from the point somehow ended up in the back of Adam Morrison's net to give the Panthers a last-minute win with only 17 seconds left.

It was a sucker punch for the Flyers who remain rooted to the foot of the table while the Panthers climb back into third.
