Review for plays at both ends of the ice

Crazy play in Glasgow where both sides thought they'd scored!

Last night in Glasgow, an unusual play occurred in the opening 20 seconds. Clan thought they'd scored at one end, but the potential goal was waved off. Manchester then went up ice and thought they'd got the puck over the line as well.

Both situations needed to be reviewed by the officials, and both came back as no goal.

"It's particularly unusual to get a play where both teams think they might have scored before the whistle goes," explained Head of Hockey Operations Liam Sewell. "So, in this case, the officials did the correct thing and reviewed the plays at both ends of the ice.

"First, you have to look at the Clan situation. If there's a goal there, the play becomes dead and you need to rewind the clock to when the goal would have been timed at, and then take a centre-ice faceoff to restart the game.

"As it was no goal, the officials then reviewed the possible goal for Manchester, which culminated in the whistle being blown. As both situations resulted in no goal, the clock stayed where it was and the ensuing faceoff took place as planned."
