Glasgow Clan and Manchester Storm meet for the second time in a week on Wednesday night, this time at Braehead Arena, in a Motorpoint Elite League game live on Premier Sports.
The sides met at the AO Arena last Wednesday, where Storm took a 2-1 win. Brandon Cutler opened the scoring for Manchester before Joe Nardi doubled the lead early in the second period. Josh Tarzwell pulled one back for Glasgow, but Storm held on to take the two league points.
Both teams head into the return meeting having picked up wins over the weekend.
Clan responded to Saturday’s 5-3 Challenge Cup defeat in Dundee with a 4-1 home victory over Belfast Giants on Sunday. Rylan Schwartz, Mick Messner, Cole Kodsi and Deven Sideroff were all on target as Glasgow handed the Giants their first defeat of the season.
Manchester also finished the weekend with a win, beating Guildford Flames 4-3 in the Challenge Cup at the AO Arena. Storm led 3-0 after two periods before Guildford fought back to level, but Lewis Hook’s second goal of the night restored the lead just 20 seconds later.
There has been little between the sides statistically so far this season. Across all competitive games, Storm have averaged slightly more goals per game at 2.83 compared with Clan’s 2.57, while Glasgow have conceded marginally more at 3.43 per game compared with Manchester’s 3.33.
Both teams’ games have also tended to produce plenty of scoring, with Glasgow’s fixtures averaging exactly six total goals and Manchester’s 6.17.
