Sunday brings four more Challenge Cup games, with Glasgow Clan hosting Belfast Giants, Manchester Storm welcoming Guildford Flames, Fife Flyers facing Dundee Stars and Coventry Blaze taking on Sheffield Steelers.
Glasgow and Belfast meet again at 16:00 after their opening-weekend game went all the way to penalty shots, with the Giants taking the extra point. Clan come into Sunday third in Group B on four points from four games after Saturday’s 5-3 defeat in Dundee. Belfast, meanwhile, remain perfect in the competition after beating Fife 5-2 on Saturday to make it five wins from five and move onto 10 points at the top of the group. The Giants have now scored 26 goals across those five Cup games.
Manchester and Guildford meet at the AO Arena at 16:00 with both sides looking to improve their position in Group A. Storm have three points from three Cup games so far, while Guildford have five from four after taking three wins from their last three competitive games before this weekend. Manchester were in league action in Nottingham on Saturday night and were beaten 5-1, while Guildford come into Sunday having won 7-4 against Sheffield in their first league game on Wednesday. Group A remains tightly packed behind leaders Sheffield, with every point important in the race for the top three places.
Fife and Dundee meet at 17:00 in another Scottish derby, with both teams looking to respond to contrasting Saturday results. The Flyers remain second in Group B on five points from five games after losing 5-2 in Belfast, while Dundee picked up their first win of the season by coming from two goals down to beat Glasgow 5-3. That victory also gave the Stars their first Challenge Cup points, moving them onto two points from four games. The sides have already met once this season, with Fife winning 4-1 in Dundee on the opening weekend.
Coventry round off the evening at 17:30 with their only game of the weekend, welcoming Sheffield to the Skydome. The Blaze have two points from three Challenge Cup games, with their win coming at home against Cardiff, and sit sixth in Group A. Sheffield arrive with a perfect Cup record after Saturday’s 3-1 victory over Cardiff made it four wins from four and moved them onto eight points at the top of the group. The teams have already met once this season, with the Steelers winning 6-0 at the Utilita Arena on opening night.
