Nottingham Panthers and Manchester Storm meet at the Motorpoint Arena on Saturday night in the only Motorpoint Elite League game of the evening.
Saturday will be Nottingham's first league game of the season. The Panthers have played four competitive games so far, all in the Challenge Cup, opening with a shootout win over Manchester before taking a point from an overtime defeat in Sheffield and losing at home to Guildford. On Friday night, they were beaten 5-3 in Cardiff, leaving them with three Cup points from four games.
Manchester have also played four competitive games, three in the Challenge Cup and one in the league. Storm picked up a point from that opening-night shootout defeat in Nottingham, lost 4-2 in Cardiff and then earned their first win with a 5-3 victory in Coventry. They followed that by beating Glasgow 2-1 at the AO Arena on Wednesday to take two points from their first league fixture.
The sides have already met once this season, although Saturday will be their first league meeting. Nottingham won that Challenge Cup encounter 4-3 in a shootout after the teams were tied through regulation and overtime. Manchester's scheduled home Cup game against the Panthers the following day was cancelled due to ice issues.
