No one has scored more points for Sheffield Steelers than Robert Dowd.
His goal against Guildford on Sunday took him to 793 points and into the outright lead for the Steelers, surpassing Ron Shudra's record of 792.
“It feels brilliant!” said the Steelers captain after the game. “Ron did massive things for the club. He's a legend in the game and for the Steelers organisation, and so to be in the same conversation as him is really humbling.
“I'm glad to get it done and get over the line, so now I can concentrate going forward."
The total of 793 includes points Dowd notched for the Steelers in the Champions Hockey League and IIHF Continental Cup, among others, which do not appear in his Motorpoint Elite League stats.
