Clan blank Flyers to go level seventh

Glasgow Clan moved level on points in seventh place wit ha five-goal, shutout win over Scottish rivals Fife Flyers on Friday night.

“It was good to get a team win,” said Clan’s Brady Risk.“With four games left and playing the last-placed team, it was important we played to our level, especially with playoffs coming up, and to not take any team for granted.”

Clan controlled the opening frame and capitalised on early discipline issues from Fife, with Mick Messner opening the scoring on the power play from Steven Seigo and Tristin Langan. Brady Risk added a second late in the period from Robert Lachowicz to give Clan a 2-0 lead at the break.

The Clan extended their advantage when Jason Fram put another puck in the net, continuing their dominance as Fife struggled to stay out of the penalty box. Further penalties to Jeremy Masella and Josh Winquist halted any Flyers momentum as Glasgow remained firmly in control heading into the third.

“We were expected to win this game, but you have to look at the way we played the game,” continued Risk. “For most of it we played to our identity and what we needed to do ahead of the playoffs.”

Rylan Schwartz and Mick Messner scored 22 seconds apart in the final period to confirm a five-goal win for the hosts.
