Coventry Blaze ended a four-game loss streak with a one-goal win over Manchester Storm at the Shelter.

A crowd of 2,350 were in Altrincham on Friday night.

A scoreless and penalty-less opening period was followed by Blaze taking the lead in the second. The visitors broke in on a 2-on-1 rush where Grayson Constable used Grant Mismash as a decoy before firing a wrist shot past Drew DeRidder.

The Blaze doubled their lead 4:34 into the third period, taking advantage on the powerplay. A good pass from Colton Saucerman in the slot found Matthew Gleason, who had time to pick his spot low past DeRidder.

Just over three minutes later, Harrison Caines pulled one back for Storm when he beat Mat Robson five-hole on a breakaway to make it a one-goal game.

The Storm thought they had levelled with 5:45 to play through Loren Ulett in close, but Kevin Moore challenged the play for goalie interference. The officials agreed with the Blaze coach and the goal was ruled out.

DeRidder left the net with 1:26 remaining, but Storm could not find the equaliser as Blaze held on to take the points.
