Belfast Giants extended their lead at the top of the Elite League with a five goal win over Glasgow Clan at a sold out SSE Arena on Sunday night.
A three goal opening period put the Giants comfortably ahead. Brandon Whistle opened the scoring just shy of four minutes into the game as he drove the net and forced the puck between Lucas Brine’s pads. Ciaran Long finished off a nice passing move involving Carter Hamill and Karl Boudrias at 16:10 to make it two, before captain David Goodwin deflected a shot past Brine just 29 seconds later to make it three.
The lead was extended further at 27:27 when Scott Conway batted a looping shot out of the air and past the Clan netminder. Karl Boudrias completed the scoring at 34:01 with the Giants fifth and final goal of the night.
The win, combined with results elsewhere, moved the Giants four points clear at the top of the standings.
