Challenge Cup: What about the Semis?
How are the matchups determined?
The remaining Challenge Cup Quater-Final second legs take place this week, meaning that by Wednesday night we'll know the four teams left in the Semi-Finals.
The format is the same as in previous seasons - the highest-ranked team left plays the lowest, leaving two remaining teams for the other Semi-Final. The ranking of teams after the Group Stage was as follows:
- Dundee (Group Winners)
- Guildford (Group Winners)
- Sheffield (Group Winners)
- Nottingham
- Cardiff
- Glasgow
- Belfast
- Manchester ('Play-In' Winners)
Dundee have already been eliminated. If Guildford advance then they will play the lowest-ranked team remaining; should they be knocked out, Sheffield will play the lowest-ranked team left. If both lose, Nottingham would be the highest-ranked team left in the competition.
At the summer Fixtures Meeting, the Semi-Finals were agreed to take place on any of 15, 22 and 29 January.
