Sunday: League trophy ready if needed

The Elite League trophy will be in attendance for a second time this week, but whether it comes out of its flight case or not will depend on the outcome of one, or possibly two, of Sunday's game.

Sheffield Steelers need a win, in any fashion, to secure their first league title since 2016. A come-from-behind victory over Nottingham Panthers on Saturday night set that up, after they twice trailed. Guildford thrashed Glasgow 7-1 on Saturday to pick up their second win of the week. Having lost the Cup Final at Utilita Arena, the last thing the Flames will want is to be there when the Steelers lift another trophy.

Cardiff Devils need to make sure they win to keep the league title race alive. Defeat in regulation to Nottingham Panthers would hand Sheffield Steelers the trophy regardless of the scoreline in Yorkshire. A victory would also all-but guarantee they finish second this season. Nottingham dropped to five points outside the playoff places wit Saturday's defeat to Sheffield, and have only six games left to make up the gap.

Fife Flyers are just about hanging onto a playoff place and play their first game of the week with the visit oof Belfast Giants on Retro Night in Kirkcaldy. The hosts will be throwing back to the team's original jerseys from the 1930s as they look to pick up a vital pair of points against a Giants team that needed overtime to overcome Dundee Stars on Saturday. That point for the Stars brought them level with the Flyers having played a game more - defeat for Fife in regulation tonight would see them slide one place on the Regulation Wins tie-breaker.

Labelled the 'Biggest game of the season' by Blaze Head Coach Danny Stewart, Coventry host Manchester Storm less than 24 hours after the sides met in Altrincham. Storm took that game in a shootout to stay fourth, while the Blaze's point put them back into sixth. It's Retro Night at the Skydome with the Blaze wearing a look that takes inspiration from their tenth anniversary shirt which was worn during our league winning season of 2009/10. A point guarantees Storms place in the playoffs, although they are effectively already qualified due to the teams below them having to face each other several times before the season is out.
