Johnny Curran scored the only goal from 56 shots in the game as Coventry Blaze snapped a four-game losing run with a home victory over Cardiff Devils.

JD Dudek had the Blaze's best chance of the opening period on a breakaway but couldn't beat Bowns, while the Devils hit one of three posts over the game in the first period.

Dudek was again through in Bowns in period two but again the GB Number One came out on top.

In period three, the Devils hit both a post and a crossbar in the final period, but the one shot that did get through went the way of the Blaze - Curran started his side's attack in his own end, and was then on hand to slot a rebound from a Tyler Kirkup shot past Bowns 66 seconds into the final period.

A timeout with 1:55 to play saw Bowns pulled for the extra skater, but the home side did well to get bodies in lanes to keep Cardiff out. A late minor on Evan Mosey for Tripping disrupted the visitors' momentum, and the home side held on for a win with Taran Kozun logging a 29-shot shutout.
