Wednesday: Full schedule, with love

All ten Elite League teams are in action on Wednesday for special Valentine's Day hockey. With less than 100 games remaining this season, every game from hereon in has a lot riding on it.

Cardiff Devils host Fife Flyers at what is expected to be another sold-out Vindico Arena. The Devils go into this game on a good run, with eight straight wins since coming back to league action since the Continental Cup Final. Fife are also in good form themselves with three wins in a row having taken them into the playoff places. The Devils have won two of three meetings between the teams this season, and have not conceded a goal at home to the Flyers since January 2023. The Flyers' last win in Cardiff was in November 2018

Coventry Blaze and Glasgow Clan have played more overtime games individually this season than any other teams in the EIHL, and they meet at the Skydome as both teams look to end losing runs. The Blaze have dropepd three league fixtures on the bounce and lost pace with the top four, while Glasgow's four straight defeats have seen them fall out of the playoff places altogether. While Coventry are fifth, only five points now separate them from Fife in eighth. All four meetings between these teams this season have gone beyond 60 minutes.

Manchester Storm's Managing Director Ryan Finnerty has demanded a response from his players after Sunday's 6-1 home thrashing by Cardiff, and they'll need to be on top of their game when they face third-placed Belfast Giants at the Storm Shelter. The Giants came out of a Scottish weekend with four points, while Storm come into this fixture three games without a win. Belfast have won three of four games against Manchester this season, though Storm did win one of the two games in Altrincham.

Nottingham Panthers are looking for their first two-game win streak since the early season when they host Dundee Stars at the Motorpoint Arena. The Panthers beat Glasgow 3-2 on Sunday to get a long-awaited home win, and they now find themselves six points short of the playoffs but with at least three games in hand on the teams above them. Dundee have lost for straight games, but have managed to pick up a point in two of them to keep themselves sixth overall. The Stars will be in good spirits, though, as they've picked up at least a point on each of their last three visits to Nottingham over the past 12 months.

A huge Wednesday night crowd a the Utilita Arena will see a dress rehearsal of the 2024 Challenge Cup Final when Sheffield Steleers host Guildford Flames. The team will play for that trophy in a month on 13 March, but have league points on the line tonight. While Sheffield have won the vast majority of their games this season, there is an unusual tend ongoing with the Flames - the visiting team has won the last nine meetings between the teams, including four wins in a row for Guildford in Yorkshire. The Steelers have won nine straight in their current run, while the Flames' four-game unbeaten spell came to an end on Sunday.
