A couple of weeks after Robert Lachowicz hit the 900-mark, the Steelers captain reached 800 played and was honoured for the milestone int front of over 7,000 fans at the Utilita Arena on Sunday afternoon.

Initially making his Steelers debut in 2006 after progressing through juniors in Billingham, Dowd has spent his entire Elite League career in Sheffield, except for one year with Belfast from 2011-2012.

Dowd is one of only 11 players to hit the 800 mark, with only five others still playing in the Elite League this season.

Former Steelers captain Jonathan Phillips was the first players to play in 1,000 EIHL games, and holds the record at 1,175.
