Haden wins it in shootout

Gary Haden scored the only goal of the shootout to earn Glasgow Clan a road win over Coventry Blaze on Sunday night.

Kobe Roth had the game's opening goal with 15:52 played with a deflection on Johnny Curran's pass into the slot. Luke Lynch rpelied with some neat, quick hands in front of Taran Kozun with 68 seconds left in the period, and Clan could have gone ahead if Jordan Cownie had found the net after the hosts turned the puck over in their own zone.

Roth was the man to put the Blaze back ahead - after a nice give-and-go with Curran, he toe-dragged and beat Jake Kielly glove side 2:59 into period two.

Clan eventually struck back with 10:54 left in regulation with an excellent Gary Haden finish to draw them level. A late Lynch Hooking minor set the Blaze up for some powerplay time where only a wonderful sprawling, kick save form Kielly kept things tied.

Overtime specialists Coventry almost had the extra point won after 19 seconds but for JD Dudek hitting the crossbar, while Ian McNulty also came close to giving them the win. At the other end, Charlie Combs couldn't beat Kozun 1-on-0, and so the game was decided on penalty shots where Haden scored the only goal in nine shots.
