Shutout win for Clan

The new era for Glasgow Clan started with a four-goal, shutout win over Scottish rivals Fife flyers in front of a sell-out crowd at Braehead Arena.

It was an exciting open to the new era for both Clan and Flyers but without goals in the opening period. Clan found Shane Owen in excellent form in the visitors' net, and were left empty-handed despite throwing almost double the shots on the Flyers' net as on their own - 19-10 the count.

While the Flyers were dangerous on the rush, Clan's pressure was growing during the middle period and eventually saw them beat Owen. Nate Kallen, who logged over nine minutes of ice time in period two alone, came in alone at the back post when Zach Vinnell's pass looked like it was headed for Philippe Sanche, and deflected past Owen for the lead at 33:43.

Dyson Stevenson's neat deke and finish gave the Clan some breathing room with his side's second at 46:15, while Gary Haden fired home on the powerplay at 48:48 to make it 3-0. A super quick wrist shot from Darien Craighead on the rush at 58:44 rounded off the Clan's win.

Jake Kielly logged a 28-shot shutout.
