Playoff place in Clan's hands - Flyers must win

Glasgow Clan head into their final game of the 2022/23 Viaplay Elite League season hoping to secure a playoff place, while knowing that Fife Flyers must win to keep their slim chances alive.

For the Flyers, it's simple - they must beat local rivals Dundee Stars to have any chance of making the post season. Clan would win out if the teams ended tied on points, meaning a win is Fife's only option in their game as well as hoping for a favour from Sheffield.

In Sheffield, the Steelers know that two points this weekend, in any form, will guarantee they finish the season third ahead of the playoffs. The Steelers can't be caught on the tie-breaker if they are tied on points with Cardiff, meaning a win here does it - otherwise, they'll need to finish the job on Sunday in Cardiff. They could also claim third if the Devils fail to win tonight. Glasgow have it all in their own hands as a point here ensures they make the playoffs - they can also secure qualification if Fife fail to take two points in Dundee.

Coventry Blaze host Cardiff Devils in what could be a prelude to a Playoff Quarter-Final matchup. The Devils need to better the Steelers' points on Saturday to stay in with a chance of finishing third, but that also means a win may not be enough if Sheffield take two points themselves. Blaze cannot finish any higher or lower, but with the potential of facing the Devil in the playoffs it's the perfect chance to lay down a marker for next weekend.
