Sunday: Giants aiming to stay strong as rivals meet

Four of the top six face each other in Sunday Viaplay Elite League action.

Belfast Giants head into Manchester for their second road game of the week off the back of a shutout win in Sheffield less than 24 hours earlier. Knowing that the Steelers are facing the title-chasing Flames later, the Giants have a huge chance to extend their leads over at least one of their title rivals. Manchester are back home after an impressive road win in Cardiff midweek and trying to hold onto sixth place. Storm could clinch a playoff place tonight with a point, or results elsewhere going in their favour.

neither Guildford Flames nor Sheffield Steelers can afford to lose tonight's meeting at the Spectrum if they want to keep their league title dreams alive. The Flames were beaten at home by Coventry midweek before winning in Dundee on Saturday - they remain three points off the top with a game in hand. Sheffield's title hopes took a huge knock with that home defeat to Belfast yesterday which left them seven points adrift with only eight games to play. That defeat has left them realistically needing to win almost all of their remaining fixtures and hope for favours elsewhere.
