Storm earn first win in Cardiff in five years

Manchester Storm earned their first win in Cardiff since March 2018 thanks to an excellent defensive performance in a 2-1 victory over the Devils at a sold-out Ice Arena Wales.

Captain Mark Richardson put the hosts head early, jumping into the play and finishing in front off a Cole Sanford feed with 11:24 played.

Tyler Barrow tied things up in period two with the final touch in front of Ben Bowns, who had pulled off a couple of 2-on-1 saves in the opening period to keep the visitors out.

The Devils went 0-for-5 on the powerplay in the game, and it was no surprise when they were undone by the Storm with the extra man - Jonathan Desbiens hit what turned out to be the game-winner with just over 11 minutes to go.

Storm killed off a Tyson Fawcett tripping minor inside the final ten minutes, and survived over two minutes of 6-on-4 pressure with Bowns pulled.

The victory took Storm back into sixth, while Cardiff host Coventry on Saturday ahead of next week's double-header in Belfast.
