Steelers secure four-point weekend

Sheffield made it a four-point weekend with victory over Manchester Storm, as the Steelers look to get themselves back in the race for the Viaplay Elite League title.

It took Matt Petgrave just 34 seconds to open the scoring for the Steelers, who came in off the back of a road win in Nottingham on Saturday night. When Marc-Olivier Vallerand doubled the home side's lead at 6:06, it looked as if Storm could be about to receive another thrashing as they had done to Guildford the night before, the the visitors steadied the ship and were back in things through Cole Carter with just over ten minutes played.

Period two saw the Steelers come close to extending their lead, but at the other end Manchester had two half-open nets to aim at but were unable to get the shot on target.

Storm were still only a goal behind as the game ended the third period and created their fair share of chances to tie the game. With just under eight minutes to go, a loopy shot went over Jeremy Brodeur and just under the crossbar to put the Steelers 3-1 up - credited to Daniel Ciampini assisted Brett Neumann. That goal was enough insurance for the home side to see out the rest of the game
