At the Viaplay Challenge Cup Final on Wednesday night in Belfast, we collected Time on Ice data live and in-play for the first time in an Elite League game.

"We are currently preparing upgrades to the gamecentre and back-end statistics platform for the 2023/24 season, part of which is making the collection of live time on ice data possible. This test on the live game in Belfast was very successful and we thank the Giants statistics team for providing the additional resources to help us do this. We currently plan to implement live time on ice data collection again at the Viaplay Playoff Finals Weekend in both Semi-Finals and the Final," explained Head of Hockey Operations, Mike Hicks.

"Since 2021, the EIHL has had access to Time on Ice data, however this was not live and was only available on the day following a game, collected remotely and dependent on camera angles available. Collecting it in the area offers a a more accurate method of data collection and real-time information for coaches, fans and broadcast partners."

The data collected can be viewed in the document below.
