Sheffield Steelers got revenge on Fife for Wednesday night's Viaplay Challenge Cup elimination with a one-goal victory over the Flyers at the Utilita Arena on Saturday night in front of a crowd of 6,352 fans.

Brandon Whistle's excellent solo effort, cutting in from the wing and beating Shane Owen with a backhand finish turned out to be the game's only goal, scored at 12:20.

Matt Greenfield posted a 19-shot shutout while Owen made 32 other saves in the game as the goaltenders kept excellent displays rolling over from the midweek clash.

With only one goal separating the teams going into period three, it was almost a repeat performance from the Flyers who came close to levelling but for Niklas Nevalainen intercepting a feed to Janne Kivilahti, and Greenfield denying the Finn with a point-blank save at the far post.

Evan Mosey was unable to convert on a late empty net chance as the Steelers held on for the win to move into third place overall.
