Belfast Giants took their week's total to 16 goals in three games as they stayed top of the Viaplay Elite League with a commanding 8-0 victory over Glasgow Clan in front of over 7,100 fans at the SSE Arena.

It was Mark Cooper's goal that separated the teams after the opening period in this one. The Giants' forward fired the puck past John Muse with a wicked one-timer off a perfect David Goodwin pass to put the home side ahead with a powerplay marker at 10:12. While that was Clan's only penalty of the period, the visitors wasted a 5-on-3 opportunity earlier in the frame.

The Giants turned on the gas in period two and ran in six goals over a 10-minute spell. new signing Matthew McLeod slotted home unmarked in the slot at 22:09 to make it 2-0, with Gabe Bast's wrist shot from the point going all the way through just under two minutes later. Ben Lake made it 4-0 at 25:14 as the puck squirmed out from under Muse off Mark Cooper's shot.

Lewis hook scored two in 2:11 to put the Giants six up, with Grant Cooper making it seven with 1:33 left in the period.

Steve Owre's lovely dangle was the only goal of the final period to make a final scoreline of 8-0.
