Belfast Giants went joint top of the Viaplay Elite League thanks to a two-goal, shutout victory in Nottingham live on Viaplay on Tuesday night.

Both goalies were outstanding for three periods of a tightly-contested game at the Motorpoint Arena. Peyton Jones made a string of saves in the Panthers' net as the Giants piled on pressure in the middle of the opening period, but were unable to beat their former goalie.

In period two, a combination of Tyler Beskorowany and the crossbar prevented David Levin from giving the home side the lead, while at the other end shortly after Jones denied David Goodwin on a 1-on-0 to keep things deadlocked through 40 minutes.

As the Panthers chased the game late and took Jones out for the extra skater, a smart play from Scott Conway saw him cut out a JC Brassard pass across the blue line and then shoot the puck the length of the ice into the empty net to seal the win.
