Saturday: Leaders hoping to extend advantage

Guildford Flames will look to maintain, or even extend, their advantage at the top of the Viaplay Elite League if they can beat Coventry Blaze at the Spectrum in Saturday's early start.

The Flames went five points clear at the top on Friday night with a road win in Glasgow, helped out by Belfast's win over Sheffield. Those sides meet again this evening. It will mark the end of a long week for the Flames, who travelled to Belfast on Tuesday for Wednesday's cup fixture and have not been back to Guildford until today.

Coventry have lost ground on the top four with the gap now up to five points, but they maintain a comfortable 14-point lead over sixth. Any win here would help them cut the gap on the top four with one of Belfast and Sheffield set to drop at least a point. This is the Blaze's only game of the weekend.

Should the Flames win tonight, and Fife lose, Guildford will become the first team this season to secure their playoff place.
