Flames go five points clear at top

Guildford Flames took advantage of results elsewhere to extend their lead at the top of the Viaplay Elite League to five points with a road victory in Glasgow on Friday night.

Clan, who'd beaten both Cardiff and Sheffield in their last pair of games, looked like they might be able to upset the top three again when Kevin Massy gave them an early lead, but Ryan Tait's equaliser at 15:46 and a go-ahead Owen Griffiths wrist shot just shy of four minutes later put the Flames in control at the first intermission.

The visitors went 3-1ahead through Logan Fredericks on 25 minutes, before Bradley Lalonde's shot sailed past John Muse 3:30 later - a goal reviewed to see if Brett Ferguson's stick had touched it high or not.

Fredericks rounded off the scoring 4:04 into period three to cap a comfortable victory for the Flames.
