Flyers hit back against Stars

Fife Flyers avenged their Boxing Day defeat in Dundee with a XXX-goal win over the Stars on Tuesday night.

Dundee, who'd won 3-2 26 hours earlier on home ice, took the lead in the Fife Ice Arena inside 12 minutes when Ben Sokay's shot bounced under Shane Owen at 11:41.

With former Flyer Erik Naslund in the box for Interference, Chris Gerrie converted on the powerplay with a wrist shot in the slot to tie the game at 26:55. Seth Barfaro's dump in at 33:35 took a nasty deflection off the boards and bounced out in front for Chris Lawrence to tap into the empty net with Anton Svensson totally wrong-footed.

Christopher Lidjsman's slash was enough to award the Flyers a penalty shot with 59 seconds left in period two, but Svensson denied Janne Kivilahti on the chance.

Period three started with three players from each side given penalties after a scuffle, but when the all-important next goal game it went the way of the hosts. Zack Phillips neatly deked Svensson to put the Flyers 3-1 up after a miscontrol from Colin Joe saw the Flyers' forward break into the zone with just under nine minutes to play. Kivilahti found the empty net with 79 seconds left for the final goal.
