Wednesday: Stars aiming for repeat in Sheffield

Sheffield Steelers host Dundee Stars in Wednesday's lone Viaplay Elite League fixture with both sides hoping for a change in fortunes.

For the Stars, the game gives the team a chance to put to an end a run of five straight league losses - they're also seven without a win when taking cup games into consideration. One of their two road victories this season did, however, come in Sheffield.

Sheffield return home after two consecutive weekends of games in Scotland that saw them return with maximum points. The Steelers have won twice in Dundee this season, but have not beaten the Stars at the Utilita Arena for three straight games, a run stretching back to February 2022. Were the Steelers to hit eight goals tonight, they would become the first team this season to hit the 100 goals mark.

Dundee's challenge in Sheffield will be to limit goals against. They face a side that scores an average of four per game, while Jeff Mason's team have shipped five in each of their last three matches.

The Steelers have this as their game in hand on Guildford, who they trail at the top of the standings by six points.
