Flames come from behind to extend lead at top

Guildford Flames extended their lead at the top of the Viaplay Elite League to eight points with a one-goal win in Glasgow on Friday night.

Clan scored the only goal of the opening period 1:52 before the buzzer with Gary Haden firing top shelf off Gabriel Chabot's pass. Guildford were level only 46 seconds into period two on a carry-over powerplay from the first period thanks to Ben O'Connor's slapshot in the circle.

Just short of four minutes later, Alex Yuill was given time to line up a shot past Ty Taylor through a screen to complete the turnaround and put the Flames into a lead they'd not give up.

O'Connor finished off a really well-worked powerplay goal following neat passes from Brett Ferguson and Ryan Tait 58 seconds into the third period, and while Stephen Dixon finished from the slot with just over 10 minutes to play to bring the hosts back to within one, they weren't able to tie things up in the closing stages and the league leaders held on for their second win of the season at Braehead Arena.
