Cardiff Devils continued their winning streak at the Utilita Arena with a 3-2 victory over Sheffield Steelers on Saturday night, extending their record to five straight wins on the Steelers' ice.
The Devils had an early goal washed out on video review for the net being displaced and then found themselves a goal down to Brett Neumann's powerplay marker with 9:03 played. Sam Duggan tied the game less than three minutes later the teams ended period one all square.
2:14 into period two and with Kevin Schulze sitting a holding minor, Justin Crandall's pass across the zone found Brodie Reid on the far side to fire a one-timer past Matt Greenfield and put the Devils back ahead.
The hosts needed until 46:56 to draw level with a Rob Dowd shot that sneaked through, but the Devils regained the lead with 5:28 to go - Cole Sanford hitting what turned out to be the game-winner for the Welsh side.
