1930 Fife Flyers vs. Belfast Giants – Live on FreeSports!

Live Elite League action returns to FreeSports for the new season, with tonight’s game at the Fife Ice Arena being the first of 17 to come this season. It’s a matchup between the sides in places five and six in the table, although in very different form.

Fife head into this clash off the back of weekend which saw them draw blanks against Nottingham and Sheffield. One win in the last five games has seen the side slip down the table after some early-season promise, but they do face a Giants teams that they’ve beaten at home already this season.

The Giants completed a four-point weekend last week with wins at home and then in Manchester, and with 12 points from eight games have the joint-highest win percentage in the league.

1930 Guildford Flames vs. Glasgow Clan

A return to league action for Guildford after their three Challenge Cup wins last week saw them win Group B.

Those results mean Paul Dixon’s side are on a three-game winning streak heading in to tonight’s game, and have won six of their last seven in all competitions. In league games alone, the Flames have one of the stingiest defences - they average only 2.67 goals against per game.

Glasgow went down in a derby defeat to Dundee at the weekend but responded a day later by beaten Manchester. That result kept them inside the top three, and with Sheffield in Cup action tonight the Clan have a chance to go back to the top of the table. Zack Fitzgerald’s side are one of the most high-scoring, averaging over four goals a game in league action so far.

1930 Nottingham Panthers vs. Dundee Stars

This matchup at the Motorpoint Arena really is a battle of two sides who need to start picking up wins.

Both teams won games on Saturday to end winless runs, although the Panthers then played a day later and were defeated narrowly in Coventry. Nottingham have two more points than the Stars in the league (9) from the same number of games played (12), but have been more goal shy – the Panthers average just 2.45 goals a game, while Dundee are at three. What the Panthers have going for them is that they give up less on average – 3.25 a game, compared to Dundee’s 4.58 (a league worst).

The sides have played just once so far this season, and that ended with a 5-1 Panthers’ win in Dundee. After waiting almost two months for another home win, the Panthers go into tonight’s game looking to make it two in a row. Dundee on the other hand have not tasted. Victory on the road since 6 October.
