Giants set for CHL Draw on 25 May

Belfast Giants will find out their opponents for the 2022/23 Champions Hockey League on Wednesday 25 May with the draw taking place live from Tampere.

Today, the final post allocations were released. The Giants, seeded in Pot 4, will be drawn against teams from Pots 1, 2, and 3 respectively:

  • Pot 1: Rögle Ängelholm, Färjestad Karlstad, EV Zug, Eisbären Berlin, Tappara Tampere, Oceláři Třinec, Red Bull Salzburg, Luleå Hockey
  • Pot 2: Fribourg-Gottéron, Red Bull Munich, Jukurit Mikkeli, Mountfield HK, Villach SV, Skellefteå AIK, ZSC Lions, Grizzlys Wolfsburg
  • Pot 3: Ilves Tampere, Sparta Prague, Fehérvár AV19, Frölunda Gothenburg, Rapperswil-Jona Lakers, Straubing Tigers, TPS Turku, HC Davos
  • Pot 4: Belfast Giants, Grenoble, Slovan Bratislava, Stavanger Oilers, GKS Katowice, Aalborg Pirates, Olimpija Ljubljana, Comarch Cracovia

The draw which will take place on Wednesday 25 May, at 15:00 UK time and be broadcast live on both the CHL website and on the league’s official social media channels.

In 2019/20, the Giants faced Augsburg (Germany), Liberec (Czech Republic) and Luleå (Sweden) in the group stage, ending with four points from six games.
