A shutout home win over Glasgow Clan kept Coventry's Blaze's hopes of a fourth-place finish alive.

Alec Marsh scored the game's first goal 6:26 into things to give the Blaze a lead that they would never surrender.

The teams traded penalties through 40 minutes but neither  wereable to use a powerplay to their advantage.

John Curran doubled the home side's lead on a 2-on-1 rush when Janne Laakkonen fed him for the far-post tap-in. Clan pulled Shane Starrett late for the extra attacker, and also had 40 seconds of 6-on-4 with Ryan Penny sitting a tripping minor, but the home side threw themselves in front of almost everything to help CJ Motte to a 30-shot shutout.
