Devils extend unbeaten home run against Giants

Cardiff Devils continued to put pressure of both Belfast and Sheffield at the top of the Premier Sports Elite League table with a three-goal win against the Giants in front of closed doors at Ice Arena Wales.

The Devils led after the opening period with a combination of special team goals. Riley Brandt was called for tripping at 8:08, but a nice clearance from Sam Duggan allowed Ben Davies to skate 1-on-0 and beat Tyler Beskorowany to open the scoring shorthanded at 9:02.

That lead was doubled by Brodie Reid picking his spot in the slot at 13:42 on the powerplay. Griffin Reinhart's wrist shot beat Mac Carruth to put the Giants on the board with 2:38 left in period one.

The only goal of period two was scored in close by Jake Coughler after excellent work in the corner by Cole Sanford to turn the puck over and feed Coughler in front.

Jake Coughler put the icing on the Devils' cake with an empty-net goal to give his side their third straight home win over the Giants this season.
