Stars win it in OT after Panthers fight back twice

Nottingham came from two goald down twice but eventually saw their winning run end with an overtime defeat in Dundee.

Things were all square after the opening period in which Dundee raced into a two-goal lead only to be pegged back before the 20 minutes was out. A 2-on-1 rush gave the hosts the oping goal at 9:32 courtesy of Connor Sills setting up Philippe Sanche for the one-time finish. 33 seconds later, Sebastian Bengtsson scored his fifth goal in as many games with a shot from the slot that flew past Kevin Carr.

The Panthers weren't in the mood to let their five-game unbeaten streak go easily and tied the game with two goals inside the final six minutes of the period. Robbie Baillargeon let a wrist shot go with 5:28 left in the period that found the back of Adam Morrison's net, before tying the game with 67 seconds left.

While the Panthers were trying to keep their streak alive, the Stars were looking to bounce back from a disappointing derby defeat to Glasgow 22 hours earlier and came out in period two with purpose. Spencer Dorowicz put the Stars back ahead 69 seconds into period two with a fine individual effort from Spencer Dorowicz, skating out from his own zone all the way to rounding Carr for the finish.

On 25 minutes exactly the hosts doubled their lead again when Markus Kankaanpera's shot went bar-down and beat Carr from just inside the circle.

Again, however, the Stars were unable to hold on to their lead. On the powerplay, Matthew Myers deflected Jeremy Welsh's shot past Morrison to get back to within one 62 seconds into the period. Aaron Thow then tied the game up when he was given time and space to wind up a slapshot at 51:46.

Connor Sills had a glorious chance to win the game for the Stars late in period three but missed the target when clean through, and the game was to be decided in overtime.

A defensive zone error for the Panthers saw the puck break kindly to Philippe Sanche, and he let fly to win it for the Stars 29 seconds into the bonus period.
