Tonight: Devils host Storm in league

Chance for league points with everyone else in cup action

With everyone else in cup action, there is just one league fixture in the Elite League this evening.

Cardiff and Manchester get their first look at each other tonight as both sides look to move off four points in the league.

The Devils have collected those four from only three games, and were boosted last weekend by a cup win at home to Coventry and then a solid 3-2 road win in Sheffield. Andrew Lord’s team may have one eye on the Champions Hockey League next week, but with Manchester having turned over both Belfast and Sheffield so far this season they’ll be under no illusions about the threat Manchester pose.

For the Storm, Ryan Finnerty will be hoping to see his side pick up their first away points of the season at the Viola Arena. Four points from as many games in the league has been an ok start for Manchester, although it’s again road form proving the most difficult for them as it did last season.

I was very happy with our response last weekend and think we got back to playing to our strengths. We didn’t take as many penalties and played the kind of hockey I want us to play and when we do that we’re a hard team to play against. It’s been massive for us having Martin back - he’s our captain and a leader on and off the ice. Manchester will be a difficult game - they’ve put together a strong side with a lot of skilled players but with the toughness that Finnerty always has in his teams. Hopefully we’ll have another amazing atmosphere at the Viola and another great hockey game.” – Andrew Lord (Head Coach, Cardiff Devils)

It’s never easy heading to Cardiff, but we are looking forward to the challenge.  We are confident playing anyone in the league and Saturday will be a big test. – Ryan Finnerty (Head Coach, Manchester Storm)
