Jarrod Skalde's roster for the Cardiff Devils in 2021/22 has been strengthened by two returning players, and one not unfamiliar in Wales.

Defensemen Josh Batch and Mark Richardson return for their 10th and 14th seasons with the team respectively, while Davies comes in having started his professional career in Cardiff but playing against them for the past six seasons.

"Richardson is one of the best defencemen in this league and has proven that every season," said Skalde. "I have watched a lot of his games and I love the way he plays. He is so consistent and makes simple plays that make him easy to play with. There is a reason his d-partners keep winning defenceman of the year awards in this league".

"Batchy is a big, strong guy that I think will thrive in a bigger role on the blueline this season rather than playing up front," added the Devils' new Head Coach. "His versatility is great so he may jump up there at certain times, but we have signed him as a defenceman and that is where I expect him to flourish. He is a great penalty killer and takes pride in that role."

Davies, who has been a senior Great Britain international since 2013, has spend the past six seasons split across Braehead, Coventry and Guildford. Over 7-9 games, the Welshman has scored 128 goals and put up more than 200 points.

In the 2021 Elite Series, he was drafted #8 overall by the Manchester Storm, from whom he went 1+2 through 14 games.

"Ben Davies is one of those players guys hate playing against. His feet are always moving, he gets in on the forecheck and makes things happen. I am pleased he has decided to come back to Cardiff, and I think he is going to have a big year for us" concluded Skalde.
