British forward Mac Howlett is joining the Guildford Flames for season 2021/22.

The 21-year-old, who has represented Great Britain at both Under 18 and Under 20 levels, played in Guildford as a junior before heading to SaiPa in Finland for his final two seasons at junior level.

"It is an exciting move for me," confirmed Howlett. "It's me coming back to my hometown club, where my ice hockey journey started at seven years old. I am looking forward to being closer to home and getting a new season going with the Flames."

In the Elite League, Working-born forward Howlett has played 125 games all for the Glasgow Clan for the return of nine points. He was drafted #19 overall by the Coventry Blaze for the 2021 Elite Series and scored one goal in 14 games.

"We were certainly very interested when Mac expressed an interest in moving back South," said Head Coach Paul Dixon. "It is pretty fascinating to think he took part in our summer hockey camps and I had the opportunity to coach him back then when he was just a young boy. It is not often that situation presents itself. Even back then he stood out from other kids because he could skate very well.

"Between his skating and a good skill set, there is a lot potential upside that over the next few years where he could really become a top level domestically trained player. It is exciting to put him back in Flames colours to see where he goes from here."
