Aaron Nell returns to the Elite League as Doug Christiansen’s first Steelers signing following an 18 month spell with the Swindon Wildcats in the EPL.

  • Nell made his senior GB debut at the 2013 World Championships playing 5 games. Had previously played for GB U18 and U20 at the World Championships.

  • Voted an English Premier League All Star in 2013.

Aaron Nell has scored goals wherever he has played and he will be expected to do the same again following his move to the Steelers in the summer of 2013 from the Swindon Wildcats.

A product of the Swindon junior development programme Nell took the step of moving away and to Canada for three years with the Okanagan Hockey School.

In 2007-08 Nell played for the Kenai River Brown Bears returning the UK at the end of the season to play for the GB under 20’s.

The experience abroad paid off as Nell moved back home to Swindon scoring 19 goals in 42 games (08-09) and 39 goals in 54 games (09-10).

During the 09-10 season Nell made 14 appearances up a league with the Coventry Blaze. Whilst only registering 4 points he impressed enough to earn a full time move to the Elite League side the following season.

His first full season in Coventry had Aaron scoring 14 times (37 points) in 61 games. In 2011-12 he was on target to repeat the same output when a return home to Swindon came about.

In the 38 games that remained Nell hit the back of the net 46 times (79 points) and then as Captain the following season (2012-13) Nell earned an All Star award with 60 goals and 115 points  in just 54 games.

Nell now makes his return to the EIHL for the 2013-14 season under Doug Christiansen.
