Rodney Sarich (D)
Rod Sarich will commence his seventh season with the Steelers when the season starts in August
In 304 games Sarich has amassed 222 points making him the most offensive defenseman in the EIHL and one of the leagues most sought after players. His powerplay relationship with Jeff Legue is feared nationwide.
After playing Junior with the Hitmen in Calgary Sarich played two seasons in Louisiana in the ECHL before a short 20 game spell in Finland with "Blues"
In 2004 Sarich had an injury hit season in Augusta before deciding to try Europe once again. Paul Heavey was credited with the Sarich signing and it was the start of a long and fruitful relationship
"You don't replace guys like Rod Sarich" said head coach Ryan Finnerty "in fact you can't replace guys like Rod Sarich
"Number one he is a great defenseman, number 2 he is a great offensive defenseman, number 3 he is the best powerplay defenseman in the league and number 4 he is a proven multi championship winner - find me another one of those if you can
"It was important to me to also bring back a core group of guys like Sarich, Legue, Phillips etc. We knew we were bringing a lot of new faces in so we needed those guys who have the history of what this club is all about. Signing Rod Sarich - easiest decision of the summer"
