WE LOVE A FROZEN PITCH!!!!!

Football, rugby and others may be cancelled NOT GMB PANTHERS ICE HOCKEY...SEE YOU SATURDAY AT SEVEN!

Professional sport may be taking a hammering with the weather but sports fans in the East Midlands can watch top flight ice hockey at the National Ice Centre on Saturday 7pm when revenge is on the menu for the visiting Edinburgh Capitals (Jan 9th 2010).

Bruce Richardson has passed a fitness test and has been given the all clear to resume playing after his recent illness and coach Corey Neilson has everyone to pick from, apart from long-standing British forward Ross Dalgleish.

A spokeswoman for the GMB Panthers said today : "We've talked to Edinburgh, they're definitely coming, and we've even tested more than half of the route ourselves, at least someone from the office had to go to the Newcastle area yesterday and they made it both ways without a hitch!

"We love a frozen pitch and perhaps this will be our fans' chance to get someone they know who likes sport but who has never tried ice hockey to visit a game. We lost in Edinburgh last weekend and the players are determined to set the record straight. We are in three competitions still and everyone is focussed on getting back to winning ways. We have eight wins in ten starts and we're aiming for two more wins this weekend at home to Edinburgh and away to Hull."
